Technical Consultant - Project Accounting
General Description:
To provide a range of services that ensure the successful implementation of Workspace Knowledge Management projects with specialisation in Project Accounting.
Key tasks:
Assist clients around the UK, and potentially abroad, to implement Workspace.
- Define the project, key milestones, scope and targets.
- Provide business and systems consultancy aligning the application to the clients operation.
- Configure the application to satisfy the different needs of the client.
- Make software changes to the customer's application at a level appropriate to ability
- Support the client throughout the implementation and live phases.
- Manage the project ensuring plans are set and met and scope is controlled.
- Liaise with Union Square teams to ensure high degree of client satisfaction is acheived.
Candidate profile:
The individual will have at least 2 years experience of delivering and coordinating complex IT change management projects. It will be highly beneficial for him/her to be technically competent and have experience of financial accounting solutions, or have a strong learning aptitude in this area. He/She will have a proven track record and the ability to demonstrate:
- Planning, implementing, managing and evaluating projects.
- An understanding of the basic language and some of the principles of finance.
- Strong people and communication skills.
- The ability to build a network of relationships at all levels within an organisation.
- Being confident and respected by collegues and clients.
- Possessing gravitas and credibility.
- Being strong and resourceful when necessary.
- Having a proven ability to confront, negotiate with and influence people up to Director level.
- Demonstrate experience and skills in business analysis and requirement gathering.
- Have some prior knowledge and interest in web and/or SQL technologies.
The successful candidate will be lively, bright, intelligent and personable. They will be articulate, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, be enthusiastic, have good initiative, be people focused, have a strong personality and be a finisher. A ‘hands-on’ approach to dealing with technical and project related issues is a necessity.
Key Experiences:
- Managing and implementing complex IT change management projects, some of which should ideally employ financial solutions.
- Communicating credibly and sympathetically at all levels of a business.
- Understanding of client business drivers and what constitutes satisfaction.
- Understanding of key applications (intranet, CRM, financial, MS Office etc.)
- Successfully delivering against targets.
- Appreciation of the potential commercial value of successful projects.
- Experience of using some of the following development technologies; ASP, ASPX, SQL, HTML, VB, VBA.
- Experience of current project management techniques (eg PRINCE 2) is not essential.
